Account book, 1680-1837.

Records debits and credits accrued by the men mentioned above. Entries for the 1680 to 1690 period document such items as rum, needles, pins, ribbon, flannel, and linen cloth. A number of pages are devoted to bushels of malt and barrels of beer. Entries from 1706 to 1713 pertain to mending shoes, curing hides, hoeing, carting, and haying. From 1732 to 1770 Nicholas Thomas recorded weaving a variety of textiles, including cotton "straked," flannel, "straked" worsted, and lining crape. A note at the beginning of the volume indicates that in 1813 it was given to Nicholas Kingsley by Nicholas Thomas of Swanzy, N.H. Kingsley used the volume to document money owed to him for a variety of activities, including shearing sheep, hoeing, work in a mill, drawing loads of wood, plowing gardens, setting spokes, rimming cart wheels, and drawing hay. Throughout the volume references are made to farm produce, livestock, and various agricultural activities.
